I've been debating on how to write about this beautiful day since I started editing these pictures. What do I need to say, how do I approach it? Do I talk about the day, discuss it from a photographers viewpoint and talk about lighting, challenges, first wedding experiences, my lack of confidence doing a wedding, etc, and the questions in my head could go on and on. Honestly, I am a child photographer. It is my niche. I love children, love playing, and am pretty confident in photographing them. This is the first all day wedding I have ever shot. Probably shouldn't admit that on my photo website blog either but I never want to be deceptive and attempt to sell experience that I don't have. I fell in love with the bride and her family. Genuine down to earth people who are about as relaxed as I am. I met them through the brides sister. She is one of my best friend's sister in laws. I was totally upfront about my lack of experience (only one small outdoor wedding previously) and after getting to know this family a little bit better, I could not have had a better family to work with for my first all day wedding shoot. They were wonderful. I was discussing the whole shooting a wedding thing with a friend and was asked "how are you going to approach this, are you going to tell a story, just focus on making sure you get the main wedding shots, what are you going to do?" I thought about this a lot. I had a list of photos the bride wished to get, the important, definite wedding portraits that get passed down for generations since they contain all the family members, but I decided in addition to that, I wanted to tell a story about the day and bring out the families' personalities from my perspective in spending the day with them. So I guess to answer my friends question, I attempted to do both. I enjoyed the little things about the day such as the mother of the bride heming the matron of honors dress the day of the wedding, the fact that the mother of the bride made the bride's dress (with pockets) as well as her other daughters dress, and the mother of the bride's dress was also made by her own mother (wow that got confusing), older sister (matron of honor) doing hair and makeup with determined concentration that was improved with her tongue covering her top lip, the groom who also loves to take pictures and was taking his own wedding photos when he got the chance, the natural beauty of the bride, her smile, and glow, the grooms expression when he realized what keepsakes were attached to the bride's bouquet before seeing her, and the most lasting impression of this family was the love that could be felt between family members. I adored watching through my lens flowers being pinned on loved ones and the exchanges of hugs and greetings. Sooooo the "wedding story" of the day will eventually be posted on my facebook page. I'm pretty sure I'm going to tell it in black and white but not 100% sure yet. Black and white to me is simple and no distractions. I love it. The colors of the day were absolutely beautiful and I know not everyone prefers black and white so I'm still debating. It is just becoming my thing to go black and white most of the time. There is a link under information on my home page to view my facebook page and I hope to have the "story" up by the end of the week. For now, I've included quite a few photos here. Thanks to the families of Andrea and Robert for such a wonderful day and allowing me to be a part of your wedding. It was such an honor and I wish ya'll the best!!!
